Until next time

With our trip coming to an end, I can honestly say that it's been the best visit home I've had in a long time. Between showing Spencer around, my whole entire family spending Christmas eve together under the same roof, seeing my aunt and uncle as well as my grandparents, and catching up with friends; I couldn't have asked for a better two and a half weeks back home. We are both very sad to leave, but also ready to be back in Portland. I miss tattooing, my coworkers, my friends, and of course my two little furry babies.

We had a wonderful Christmas eve, which in Norway is spent by eating a traditional Christmas dinner, followed by unwrapping mountains of Christmas gifts. It literally took us about seven hours from start to finish. It was exhausting, but fun! Last night, Spencer and I escaped the house, and went and saw my friends Purified in Blood play at a local club. It was the best. So many good people showed up, and I got to spend a few hours with my friends from way back. It was a total time machine, and it was great!

Yesterday we said goodbye to my grandparents, my youngest brother, and my dad. They all had to go back to their different parts of Norway.  Tonight we're relaxing at my mom's house, with movies and more good food. Tomorrow is our last day here, but I think we're already both very excited to come back to Stavanger. And hopefully sometime soon!

En trollsk Jul

I finally have some down time to blog. Being on vacation is hard work! We've been having early mornings, mostly due to jet lag, but during our waking hours, we've been constantly doing something. It's been great so far. We've gone from spending time at my mom's house in the city, to my dad's house in the wilderness.

As far as the weather goes, it's oddly warmer here than in Portland. It snowed a couple of times, so we went sledding. We climbed the mountain on my father's island twice, and have gone on numerous hikes. It's good to be back home.  

I'm having the best time showing Spencer around where I grew up. Having him finally getting to meet my family has been the best part of this whole year. They've all fallen in love with him, and I think the feeling might be mutual on his part.

Tomorrow we go back to the city to spend Christmas at my mom's house. My grandparents are driving down from Bergen, and I'm so excited to finally show my grandpa the tattoo I got in honor of  him, almost two months ago!

Little Leaf

Spencer and I are leaving for Norway tomorrow afternoon. I spent my last day here with my lovely co-worker and friend, Allyson. We went and had a coffee date, we shopped, and we visited Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. It was such a gorgeous day!

 

 

I didn't just spend the last week at work playing with leaves. I finished up Lindsay's octopus which we started months ago! (Sorry for the crappy picture!)

I also added another doll to the army of Matryoshka's. Thank you Chelsea!

 

We are all done packing. I'm gonna cuddle the pets a little extra and then head to bed in hope of getting a good night's sleep. I am beyond excited, because In less than 24 hours, I'll be seeing this:
